About Us

What began as a small step in 1956, has now grown into a well established institution successfully shouldering the responsibility of enlightening the students, dispelling darkness of ignorance from thousands of young individuals of this region. Thus, truly fulfilling the motto of the institution that says "Tamso Maa Jyotirgamaya". Chandra Shekhar Azad Government Post Graduate Lead College is the only government lead college of Sehore, which provides quality education in many subjects to both boys and girls belonging to the rural areas hailing from diverse socio economic backgrounds. With its historical and geographical importance, it caters to backward as well as tribal population especially of Nasrullaganj and Ichhawar tehsils. The students of other towns adjoining Sehore like Narsingarh, Kurawar, Shujalpur, Kalapipal, Shajapur, Phanda etc. are enrolled here. The college is dedicated towards imparting value based and moral education shaping students into rational and responsible citizens; ensuring a holistic development. The college is affiliated to Barkatullah University, Bhopal and is one of the major colleges in the state where the schemes and policies of the Department of Higher Education, Madhya Pradesh as well as the schemes of the central government are implemented. Moreover, it is the only government college in Sehore for post graduate studies in science and humanities for both boys and girls. The students can choose from among the diverse disciplines of Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Computer Science in B.Sc stream, B.Com (plain) and B.Com (Computer Science) in Commerce stream, and multiple subjects including Hindi, Urdu and English literature under the Humanities. Post graduate courses are also run in Science, Commerce and Arts stream. The NSS and NCC units are active components of the college wherein regular activities are conducted for the students. There is a cultural hall with a seating capacity of around 500 in the college where the academic and cultural activities of the college are organized. The hall is named after the famous freedom fighter Shahid Kunwar Chain Singh
